Significant Weather Event - January 19th, 2026
Morris-Turnberry has declared a SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT in Morris-Turnberry due to active and forecast blizzard conditions and ground drifting causing zero visibility at times, as well as snow drifting and forecast snow accumulation. Morris-Turnberry Roads are expected to fill in quickly after plowing and have periods of zero or near zero visibility. The SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT is made under Ontario Regulation 239/02 (Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways). The declaration of SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT begins at 12:20 on 19-Jan-2026 and continues until further notice. Users of Morris-Turnberry Roads are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to use caution if doing so.
The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry wishes to note that the declaration of a significant weather event is not notice of a reduced level of service or a road closure. The declaration is to notify the public that due to the current or forecasted conditions and that the expected levels of service may not be achievable. Caution is to be observed when travelling on Morris-Turnberry Roads and that it may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the roads back to a state of repair.
